D.C. lovin
December 7, 2007
I punched a rocket scientist, kicked a lawyer and tackled a former intelligence officer. Just another Thursday night in Washington D.C.
Next Tuesday I will arrive at George Washington University to do it all over again.
We show up in uniforms. We don’t really know what each other does outside of the club. Every now and than I will catch my breath and ask my opponent what their day job is. Last night I asked Lila exactly what kind of systems it is that she engineers. Aeronautics, wow. After class as I passed her in the locker room, I said, “so you’re a rocket scientist?” I was surprised to have this comment met with a casual shrug of acknowledgement.
The sample population in my Tae kwon do club is an example of the people you will find in Washington D.C.
On my way to class the other night I got into a debate regarding the economic disparities between Eritrea and Ethiopia…with my cab driver.
Doesn’t everyone want to punch a lawyer?
